AIMSO Standard

The H-Scale Classification System

Every track in the AIMI registry™ carries an H-tier label that describes how much of it was created by a human versus AI. This single label drives your transparency standing, verification requirements, and chart eligibility.

H0

Human Only

0% AI AI contribution

Not Eligible

An H0 track is produced using only traditional human methods — live recording, analog instruments, human performance, and conventional production tools. No AI generation, AI-assisted composition, or AI mastering is used at any stage.

Real-World Examples

Acoustic Singer-Songwriter

An artist writes an original song on acoustic guitar, records it with a microphone into a DAW, and mixes it using standard plugins. No AI tools are used at any point.

Live Band Recording

A four-piece band records a live performance in a studio. All instruments are played by humans; mixing and mastering are done conventionally.

Verification

Standard music production evidence (session files, stems, recording documentation). No AI disclosure is required because no AI is used.

Chart Standing

H0 tracks are reference-only in the AIMI registry. They are not eligible for AI music charts.

H1

Human + AI Assistance

1–20% AI AI contribution

Chart-Eligible

The human creator drives nearly all creative decisions. AI is used sparingly — perhaps to suggest a chord progression, generate a single stem, or offer a lyric variation — but the final work is overwhelmingly human-authored.

Real-World Examples

AI-Suggested Chords

A songwriter uses an AI tool to suggest alternative chord voicings for a bridge, selects one, and builds the rest of the song entirely themselves.

AI Lyric Brainstorm

A producer asks an AI for lyric ideas, takes one phrase as inspiration, and rewrites it entirely in their own words. All melody and instrumentation are human-created.

Verification

Disclose the AI tool used and the nature of its contribution. Highest transparency tier — strongest verification standing.

Chart Standing

Fully chart-eligible. H1 tracks often score well on community signal due to high human craft.

H2

Human-Led Hybrid

21–40% AI AI contribution

Chart-Eligible

The human creator sets the creative vision and makes the major decisions, but AI plays a meaningful role — generating instrumental layers, suggesting melodies, or producing stems that the human arranges and shapes into the final work.

Real-World Examples

AI-Generated Drum Loop

A producer uses AI to generate a drum loop and bassline, then writes all melodies, records vocals, and arranges the full track around the AI-generated foundation.

AI Vocal Harmony

A vocalist records the lead vocal themselves and uses AI to generate backing harmonies, which they then edit and mix into the final production.

Verification

Disclose the AI tool and prompt used. Must identify which elements are AI-generated versus human-created.

Chart Standing

Full chart eligibility. Requires disclosed AI tool and prompt.

H3

Balanced Hybrid

41–60% AI AI contribution

Chart-Eligible

Human and AI contribute comparably. AI may generate the core instrumental and melodic framework, while the human provides lyrics, vocal performance, arrangement decisions, and production polish. Neither party's contribution clearly dominates.

Real-World Examples

AI Instrumental + Human Vocals

A creator uses Suno to generate a full instrumental track, then writes original lyrics, records their own vocals over it, and does the final mix and mastering.

AI Melody + Human Arrangement

AI generates a melody and chord progression. The human producer rebuilds the arrangement with live instruments, writes lyrics, and performs the vocals.

Verification

Full AI disclosure required: tool, model version, prompt, and a description of which parts are AI versus human.

Chart Standing

Fastest-growing tier in the AIMI Index. Full chart eligibility with complete disclosure.

H4

AI-Led Hybrid

61–80% AI AI contribution

Chart-Eligible

AI is the primary creative engine — generating most of the music, vocals, and production. The human's role is curatorial: selecting the best generations, editing, arranging, prompting iteratively, and making final creative decisions.

Real-World Examples

Curated AI Generation

A creator generates dozens of tracks with Suno v4, selects the best one, edits the arrangement, adjusts the mix, and adds a human-recorded vocal layer.

Iterative Prompting + Editing

A prompt engineer crafts detailed prompts across multiple generations, stitches together the best sections, and applies human production techniques (EQ, reverb, layering) to finalize the track.

Verification

Requires human contribution disclosure. Must document the curation and editing process.

Chart Standing

Eligible, but requires detailed provenance documentation for verification.

H5

Pure AI

81–100% AI AI contribution

Chart-Eligible

The track is generated entirely by AI. The human's only contribution is the text prompt and selection of the output. No human performance, composition, or production beyond prompting and choosing the result.

Real-World Examples

Single-Prompt Suno Track

A creator types a text prompt into Suno v4 (e.g. 'dreamy lo-fi with female vocals, melancholic'), receives a complete track, and publishes it as-is without further editing.

Multi-Prompt Composition

A creator writes an elaborate prompt with style descriptors, tempo, and key. The AI generates the full song. The human selects the output but performs no additional production.

Verification

Eligible, but subject to restricted review if provenance is unverified. Prompt text and model version must be fully disclosed.

Chart Standing

Eligible with full prompt disclosure. Tracks without verifiable provenance may be moved to restricted review.

Key Principles

Self-Declared, Then Verified

Your H-tier is self-declared at submission and confirmed during the verification review process. Honest declaration strengthens your standing.

H1–H5 Are Chart-Eligible

Tracks classified H1 through H5 with verified AI-disclosure labeling are eligible for AIMI charts. H0 is reference-only.

Misclassification Has Consequences

Misclassifying a track (e.g. labeling H5 work as H1) can result in restricted-review status and loss of chart standing.

Disclosure Drives Trust

The more transparent you are about your AI tools, prompts, and human contributions, the stronger your verification tier and community signal.
